# MacCam > MacCam (also written "Mac Cam") is the camera app for Mac: the simple, native camera app Apple would have shipped itself. It takes photos and videos with the Mac's built-in camera, an iPhone (Continuity Camera) or any USB webcam and saves them straight into Apple Photos. It is the modern alternative to Photo Booth: the classic Photo Booth effects are still there, and macOS Portrait, Studio Light and Edge Light are built in natively. Free to download; the first 100,000 users get a free lifetime Pro license. MacCam is an independent app made in Zurich, Switzerland. It is not made by, affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc. Apple, Mac, macOS, iPhone, FaceTime and Photo Booth are trademarks of Apple Inc. ## Key facts - Website: https://maccam.app (also reachable as mac-cam.app and maccamera.app) - Download (DMG, direct): https://github.com/milanrunscode/MacCam/releases/latest/download/MacCam.dmg (download page: https://maccam.app/download) - GitHub: https://github.com/milanrunscode/MacCam (installer and release notes) - Platform: macOS 15 Sequoia or later on Apple silicon (M1 or newer) - Price: free.
