Who we are

MacCam is made by Holler Ventures GmbH, Stampfenbachstrasse 70, 8006 Zürich, Switzerland (contact: support@maccam.app), which is responsible for your data. This policy covers the MacCam app and maccam.app. Swiss data protection law (revDSG) applies; if you live in the EU, you also have your rights under the GDPR.

Your photos and videos

Photos and videos never leave your Mac. MacCam saves them to your Photos library (or Pictures › MacCam). Camera and microphone are only used while MacCam shows the picture or records. With the Pro feature Knock to Capture on, MacCam listens to the microphone while it is open to hear knocks, claps and snaps; the sound is analysed live and never stored or sent. The teleprompter’s “Follow my voice” uses Apple’s speech recognition on your Mac only (since version 1.0.12); the audio never leaves your Mac. The camera demo on maccam.app runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

License data

If you claim a license, we store your email address, an internal user identifier, license tier and number, source, optional Pro-news consent and creation time. For every Mac you activate we store a one-way hash of its hardware ID and the Mac’s name, so a license works on up to three Macs. Lovable Cloud (Supabase) hosts this data; it may be processed outside Switzerland. We use it only to confirm your email, issue and renew your signed license key, and answer license requests. You can unlink a Mac in MacCam at any time.

Emails

Confirmation codes and license emails are sent through Lovable’s email service. We only send what you asked for. Pro news is optional, off by default, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Abuse protection

To stop bots, the forms on maccam.app use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser and IP address for automated traffic. To limit repeated requests we keep a short-lived counter based on a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself.

Usage statistics

The app uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous usage statistics (app and macOS version, Mac model, language, number of captures). No photos, videos or personal content are sent. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy. The website records anonymous visit statistics (page, referrer, country, device type) through its host, Lovable.

Updates

Once a day MacCam asks GitHub whether a new version exists. GitHub sees your IP address, like with any download.

Your rights

You can ask what we store about you, have it corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent at any time. Deleting your license data ends your license. Write to support@maccam.app.
